John Asker

John Asker is a Professor of Economics at UCLA, where he holds the Armen A. Alchian Chair in Economic Theory. His work examines a broad range of topics related to industrial organization and antitrust policy, including how firms compete and collude, how the design of auctions and procurement processes shapes outcomes, and how market distortions affect the allocation of resources across an economy. His papers appear in journals across economics and finance, including the American Economic Review and the Journal of Political Economy.

He is an Editor of the Journal of Political Economy, a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a Fellow of the Econometric Society. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and a B.Ec. (Hons) from the Australian National University.
